Major Navigation Change and other exciting new features.

03-May-2007 In addition to new features listed below there is a major change to the navigation and look/feel of the software.
Navigation and Layout Changes
  • There is now a fixed menu relating to each module. E.g. If you are in accounts receivable you always have direct access to each activity in accounts receivable. E.g. Invoices, Receipts, Customers.
  • The original navigation bar and activity buttons are still there but they now directly related to the activity you are performing.
  • There is also a drop down menu that allows you to navigate to any item on the main menu. To use this menu hover over Menu in the top left hand corner.
  • The final layout change is that the menus are now on the left instead of the right - this is to reduce mouse movement and therefore speed up moving between tasks.

Other New Features
Ability to email invoices, receipts, orders, bills, payments and purchase orders. The Reply Address defaults to what is stored next to your username in User Access. The To Address will default to what is recorded in supplier or customer record. NB: The email is sent by the Shoebooks server so will not be logged in your local sent items. Generation of a PDF Attachment email will be in the next update.
Improved layout of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. Sub accounts are now indented and underlined and there are totals for all header accounts.
For those using stock - there is now the ability to perform inventory adjustments online and a series of Stock Reports have been added - Product List, Sales, Purchases and Stock adjustments. The stock levels screen has also been improved to better display current stock levels and movements.
User Permissions System has been extended to enable "Roles" to be created that have a set of related permissions. E.g. You could create a Role called "Accounts Receivable" that only provides access to Accounts Receivable features. You then add users to the role. Another example is that you could create a role called "Purchase Orders" which would only allow those users to create Purchase Orders. Within each role there are 3 levels. Operator (most basic), Supervisor (manages operators), Manager (manages supervisors). You can only grant permissions to Roles below your own.
Existing Trial Balance report renamed to "General Ledger Summary" and a new Trial Balance report added. The new report only includes the DR and CR column whereas the summary includes opening and closing balances.
Projects have been extended to include the ability to track and report on project stages. There are some additional screens in the project section relating to creating stages and there are 2 new reports to track projects.
Bills - warning if duplicate bill number entered and a link to display a report of the duplicates. There is also improved handling of due date on bills based on terms selection.
