Note: The current version will still be available at the existing web address for another month. (https://login.shoebooks.com.au i.e without the "/net") Both versions are being run in conjunction as a precautionary measure. The "look and feel" of the new version has been intentionally kept in line with the existing version to make transition as smooth as possible. A new look and feel and a load of new features will be released in the new financial year. The screenshots in the Help system will be updated when the new look and feel is released.
Known Issues:

There are some known issues with the average cost calculations on stock items. The stock module will be available for use in the new version towards the end of July 2010.

Major Features
Recurring Transactions - ability to create recurring transactions that are automatically entered on the chosen date. Transactions can be set to recur daily, weekly, monthly, EOM or yearly. Recurring transactions are set for transactions by selecting the Recurring activity button and your list of recurring transactions is located under Tasks on the Main Menu. The welcome login screen will advise you when recurring transactions are created. Recurring transactions are currently available for Invoices, Bills, Bank Transactions, Credit Card Transactions and General Journals. Recurring payslips will be coming soon.
PDF Email Attachments - send all forms such as invoices, payslips or remittance advice as a PDF attachment with the option to type a message to the recipient. Click on the normal Email button and check the box "Send the document as a PDF attachment."
Inc Tax Entry on Invoices and Bills - you can now chose to enter invoice and bill lines as Inc or Ex Tax amounts. A great new feature to speed up entry when the ex Tax amount is not displayed on the source document.
Additional Mini Menus - Reports, Setup and Imports now have drop down mini menus like the main menu. Navigate around in less clicks.
PDF Reports - button on all reports to publish direct to PDF within Shoebooks.
Report Preview Screens - reports now display below the setup screens to enable you to change filters/options and view the report with updated changes. The Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports now zoom into the General Ledger Detail report so you can make changes to filters/options without having to go back to the master report. General Ledger Detail report also has a new layout that groups filters/options together. This format will be rolled out to all report setup screens in the next update.
Batch Print and Delete - search screens now have additional batch options for Print and Delete. Use the search options to find and select the relevant transactions and simply press Print to print a copy of each transaction. e.g. Invoices
Search Screens - all column headings can now be clicked on to change the sort order.
SOAP Interface - a SOAP interface is now available for entry of transactions and records from other systems. Developers can use the interface to create transactions in Shoebooks from their custom programs. refer http://login.shoebooks.com.au/net/soap/accountingservice.asmx for a full list of enabled transactions.
Chart of Accounts Replace - feature to merge/replace one account ID into another. Great for reorganising your chart as your business grows/changes. Also hide account feature to remove accounts from selection list to prevent entry of new transactions to a particular account.
Improved Browser Compatibility - Shoebooks now presents the same in Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox. The previous version did not layout as well in Firefox and Safari so users of those browsers will notice a massive improvement. Great for all the Mac people.

General Improvements
- Imports - preview stage now displays results below import setup screen. If results displayed are OK then only one click to run import rather then having to browse to the file again.
- Paging - clicking next arrow automatically saves selections on receipts, payments and pay cheques.
- Edit Allocation - icon now available on payment/receipt edit allocation lines for quicker access to change payment allocations.
- Aging Reports - Journals - improved handling of Accounts Receivable and Payable transactions created by general journals. Can now click through to the journal direct from the report.
- Setup Menu - addition of screens to add/edit payment methods, receipt methods, customer status, supplier status and project status lists.
- Customer & Supplier Defaults - new transactions now display "Default" option for terms, default account, salesperson etc. Leave it as default and the fields will be automatically completed when you press next.

- Customer Search - addition of status filter. Status can be set for customers to assist in managing lists. Note: Customer Status list is managed in setup menu.
- Customer Record - Invoices tab - addition of column for terms and salesperson.
- Customer Record - Invoices tab - listing no longer restricted to past 12 months. Paging introduced and now displays all invoices.
- Invoice Search - extended sort options to include Date A-Z and Z-A.
- Invoice View - Invoice Lines - addition of date field. Mainly used with connect timesheet invoicing.
- Invoice View - Invoice Lines - description field now set as a memo field to allow multiple rows in the same line by pressing enter.
- Quote Search - addition of client ref filter and columns for client ref and salesperson.
- Quote View - addition of Print Format option to select templates so you can chose to use a coversheet or standard quote format.
- Quote View - addition of product field in quote lines for quick entry and use with stock items.
- Quote View - Confirm button replaces "Convert to Invoice" and "Convert to Project" buttons. Pop up menu now facilitates the conversion option.
- Customer Notes Report - addition of username filter to only find comments for particular users.
Accounts Payable
- Supplier Search - addition of status filter. Status can be set for suppliers to assist in managing lists. Note: Supplier Status list is managed in setup menu.

- Credit Cards - can now use Projects (Jobs) in this module.
- Reconciliation - paging introduced to display 50 records per page - paging is particularly useful for large reconciliations as pressing save when you move between pages saves the current selections. This prevents loss of selections if your secure browser session times out whilst you investigate a transaction.
- Reconciliation - new "Change Balance" feature introduced to change closing balance for past reconciliations.
- Reference Field - consistent naming of reference field across banking and credit cards. Previously referred to as reference, detail and payee. The reference field can be used to search for transactions not connected to customers/suppliers/employees.
- ABA (EFT payment) files - option to include balance record in file. Balance record is only required by some banks.
Payroll
- Employee Search - filter for employment type added.
- Employee View - tab added for pay cheques
- Pay Cheque New - first screen contains cheque number field for quicker entry. (Required for bank account set as Checking type)
- Pay Cheque Search - sort order and reference filters added.
- Pay Cheque Search - addition of column for payment method.
- Employee Record - Payslips tab - listing no longer restricted to past 12 months. Paging introduced and now displays all payslips.
- Payroll Setup - addition of screen to load Reportable Fringe Benefits for display on employee annual payment summary.
- Payroll Setup - Super - additional field in super setup screen to indicate which super types represent Super Guarantee Charges (compulsory 9%). This ties in with the new requirement for 2010 to include Reportable Superannuation contributions on payment summaries.
- Payroll Setup - Deduction - additional field in deduction setup called "Special" to indicate if a deduction relates to either "Giving = Workplace Giving" or "Union = Union/Professional Fees."
Reports
- Invoice and Bill List Reports - group and sort options added.
- Profit & Loss Grouped - can now zoom into transactions specific to the selected column.
- Balance Sheet - project (job) filter added.
- Taxation (BAS) Report - additional activity buttons for Email (with PDF option) and Duplicate.
- Aging Reports - can now switch between Detail and Totals in either report.
- New Purchase Detail Report - report displays individual lines of the purchase order and there is a filter for description to find particular lines.
- New Bill Detail Report - report displays individual lines of the bill and there is a filter for description to find particular lines.
- Hours Worked Report - additional filters for hour type (e.g. normal, annual etc), date worked and report grouping options.
- Project List Report - customer code filter and option to include email address in report.
- GL Account List - header/detail accounts now indented for easier reading.
Projects
- Project View - Purchases Tab added to include more aspects of the project.
- Project View - Bill Tab - improved display to only include the amount of the bill relevant to the project.
- Project Search - addition of search fields for Start and End Date of projects.
- Extended Use - project (job) feature now available in credit card module so now applicable system wide. Balance Sheet report can now also be filtered to a project.
